Prince Pearl is finally, ready to be launched in Pakistan
Prince Pearl REX7 is finally, going to be launched in Pakistan on 1st Feb 2020. And this good news comes coupled with another that unlike United Bravo, that is delivering CBU’s to its customers, the first delivery unit of Pearl will be CKD. The line-off ceremony of Prince Pearl hatchback; second Chinese origin car after United Bravo in Pakistan, was held on 19 December 2019, at its assembling plant, Multan Road Lahore. The 800cc hatchback is expected to be priced between PKR 850,000 to PKR 900,000 for the manual variant and more or less 1 million for Automatic one.
Prince Pearl is the third car to be rolled out in the segment, after United Bravo and Suzuki Alto. It will be jointly launched by Pakistan’s Regal Automobiles and DFSK group of China in the next month. It might be hailed in the Pakistani auto industry as a new alternative to the segment dominant Suzuki cars. The car bears a striking resemblance to the Changan Benni and comes equipped with an 800cc 3 cylinder EFI engine that provides 40hp and more than 60Nm of torque, under its hood.
Some Prominent Features
When it comes to its features, it offers power steering, power windows, hydraulic trunk, power side mirrors, and beautiful fog lamps with stylish and prominent headlamps. It also features an LCD touchscreen and back camera with reverse guidelines and parking sensors. The new Prince Pearl is a front-engine front-wheel-drive car with a fuel tank capacity of 27 litters. The company claims that its mileage around 20KM/L in city and 22KM/L on highways and it will be covered under the warranty of 3 years or 60,000KM. There may be an option of airbags, navigation, and some other features.
Prince Pearl exterior has a beautiful sporty look, with an aggressive front bumper and a wide shaped grill. The front halogen headlamp with daytime running lights (DRLs) and the wide chrome grille on the front adds to the vehicle’s premium look and beauty. It’s also equipped with 13-inch alloy rims with front disc brakes, whereas the back has drum brakes. However, the car will come with booster brakes instead of ABS brakes. It’s another prominent feature is LED turn signal lights integrated into the side mirrors. The mirrors are powered and retractable.
The door handles and side mirrors match the body colour of the car. The vehicle stands out from the competitors based on the design language, its pronounced cuts, and curves. Additionally, the ground clearance provided is substantial for the local roads. Though the car will be available in manual transmission, its automatic variant is also expected soon.
Competition and Safety
Prince Pearl will be a direct competitor to another Chinese origin car United Bravo, which was launched last year. Later failed to satisfy the customers despite its reasonable price. Another competitor would be Suzuki Alto, although Alto is 660cc, but both cars are similar in engine power production, that is 40hp. The thing I missed the most in this car, is essential safety features like standard airbags, abs, and immobilizer. On the other hand, crash test ratings should be made available as a mendatory requirement, by law in Pakistan.
